Message from our Administrator

Greetings Parents,

As the end of summer break fast approaches, now is the time to begin our conversation about the expectations for this upcoming school year.  With the start of this journey, I want to express my gratitude to the Silliman Institute’s Board of Directors for granting me the opportunity to lead the next chapter in this school’s long history.  It is my goal to work with all stakeholders to support a quality educational experience for all students.  I am very fortunate to join a community of educators that are committed to providing a nurturing environment that is focused on educating the “whole student”.   I believe that our success as a school will be determined not only by a student’s academic accomplishments, but the life skills it will take to become productive members of society.  What this means, is that we will work to develop Christian traits such as character, honesty, and integrity.

I am very excited to be joined by our new Assistant Administrator, Dr. Leanna Cupit.  Dr. Cupit will work with me in leading SI to greater heights.  We have spent most of the summer planning for the upcoming year, and hope to make this leadership transformation as seamless as possible.

Our school year for students will begin on Friday, August 9th.  This day will be an abbreviated day with dismissal at 11:40.  All students are expected to remain at school the entire morning. Parents of students in grades K-4 are welcome to accompany their child on this day to meet teachers and discuss class expectations. Students in grades 5-6 should meet their teachers in front of the 5-6 grade building.  When the bell sounds, teachers will escort students to their classrooms. Students in grades 7-12 should report to the auditorium upon take-in for a short assembly.

You may now find the Academic School Calendar and School Events Calendar posted on the school website under Student Life. The Academic Calendar consists of the school-year schedule of vacation days, along with progress reports dates, exam days, and end of quarters. The Events Calendar is a live calendar that will be updated weekly with school activities including athletics, academic events, social events, and other related activities.

I look forward to getting to know everyone in the Silliman community and working together to build a brighter future for our students.  Please feel free to email me or call the school office if you have questions or suggestions that would improve our school.
