Senior Callie Venable signed to play softball with Jones County Junior College Friday, January 15th. Those joining her celebration were her parents Joe and Wendy Venable, administrator Ann Kent, athletic director T.J. Davis, and softball coaches Trae Weaver and Rick Hurst. Also present were her softball teammates and many other family members, Silliman staff and friends.
Callie has been a member of the Silliman Lady Wildcat Softball Team for 7 years, lettered all 7 years. She split time behind the plate as an 8th grader, and has been the starting short stop for the past 4 years, and has done a fabulous job. She was selected 2nd Team All-District her 8th and 9th grade seasons, 1st Team All-District her sophomore, junior and senior seasons. Callie was named the teams best offensive player her sophomore, junior and senior seasons, and team MVP her sophomore and junior seasons. She was selected as the District Co-MVP her sophomore season and District MVP her junior and senior season. Callie was selected as a member of the All South State Tournament teams in 2013 and 2014 and the All State Tournament Team her freshman, sophomore and senior seasons. MAIS selected her as the AAA Player of the Year/State MVP her senior season. She finished her senior season winning STATE alongside her Lady Wildcat teammates!
Callie has played in 256 games (Silliman Career High), has 679 at bats (Silliman Career High), 183 Runs Scored (Silliman Career High), 197 Hits (team high), 42 base on balls, 153 RBI’s (Silliman Career High), 53 Stolen bases, 13 Career Home Runs (Silliman Career High), a .404 career batting average (Silliman Career High) and a .456 on base percentage over her 9th thru 12th grade seasons.
